Hi! I’m Jemile.
I am a Gen X'er with 3 kids born in 3 different decades. 1993. 2001. 2015. #mamalife is hectic, chaotic, messy but never boring with tiny windows of beauty along the way. I am not sure what I want to accomplish in this blog other than document life as a mother for reals, like it is, as it feels natural to me in my busy life. Like an old school ‘zine - like in the 90s.
As a teen mom in the early 90s I subscribed to a ‘zine written by a mom that lived in Brooklyn and it was amazing to hear the struggles and not feel alone. I cannot remember who wrote it but - she helped me during a time when I needed it most.
Theme-based Learning
I have been doing some form of theme-based learning and toy rotation with my kids for years. We love it and I love the opportunities to become immersed in the topics they are interested in.
Organizing
I am constantly trying to keep up with my family and organize my home in a way that it is functional and works for us.
Food and Health
Family meals, health (I write about it for a living) and food that a teenage vegetarian, a preschooler, and my husband and I will eat while we change it up.
